The Power of Christmas Magic
“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” — Norman Vincent Peale
Here at Aspen Crossing, our inner child comes out. With excited anticipation, we look forward to making all the preparations for the beginning of the holiday season, which of course includes the preparations for THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride!
First, we transform the Station Gift Shop with over 11 Christmas trees. Each one uniquely decorated so you can find your new ornament to take home; to the scents of the holiday season. There are treasures that are lovingly displayed hoping to be a new addition to add to your holiday decorating in your home. From the sights, sounds and scents, you can’t help but feel in the festive mood when you walk through the doors.
Next is the Aspen Crossing Railway which takes on a new persona as THE POLAR EXPRESS™. Each heritage rail car has a different holiday theme that transforms the cars themselves in to loving holiday characters that embrace your holiday spirit!
BELIEVE in the Magic of Christmas
The Aspen Crossing Railway located in Mossleigh, Alberta was the first Railway in Alberta and second in all of Canada to be awarded the rights to offer the most magical journey of them all. Now in our third year, we are eagerly looking forward to creating that whole precious experience to share with so many wonderful families. Many of our passengers have chosen this enchanting experience as a new family tradition. We here at Aspen Crossing are honoured to be a part of that very precious family time.
And like the previous two years, Aspen Crossing is proud and privileged to gift the Inaugural run of the season where we create this magical journey for the Kids Cancer Care Foundation on November 23rd, 2017.
“THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is about the need to believe and who needs to believe more than a family battling a child’s cancer diagnosis?” said Donna Biggar, co-owner of Aspen Crossing Railway. “This is our gift to these brave families. We all need to believe in something and our wish is that this evening will give these kids and families the magical power of believing again - whether it’s believing in the magic and innocence of childhood again or believing in the future or believing in family Christmases yet to come.”
A Magical Journey to the North Pole
The story begins when the Conductor calls out to the crowd, asking if there is anyone else that would like to go to the North Pole? Then, “All aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS™”
Families dressed in their pajamas, most in matching sets, giddily board the train. For many adults, it’s a chance to rekindle the child within. The joyful innocence coming from the children’s faces as they clutch their coveted golden ticket, just like the ones in the beloved Christmas story about a little boy who is unsure about believing. Our hero boy takes a journey of discovery to learn that we don’t have to always see things to Believe in them.
As little faces peer through the windows as the train pulls out of the station, you can’t help but feel the excitement of actually going to the North Pole. Each guest will hear the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack as the story reading begins and the book’s characters come to life. Dancing chefs will serve hot cocoa and cookies to all riders in a merry fashion as the hobo wanders through the train.
Railroad Magic – The North Pole
One of the many high lights of the magical journey is the recreation of the Hot Chocolate song. As dancing chefs serve hot chocolate and cookies to passengers, you can’t help but be immersed in the entertainment of the song!
But the true magic comes to life when THE POLAR EXPRESS™ makes its stop at the North Pole, aka – Santa’s Workshop. It’s designed to look just like the North Pole in the famed movie.
Santa and a few of his elves board the train, then Santa proceeds to hand everyone the first gift of Christmas, a silver bell. It rings for all those that truly Believe!
Create your own family holiday magic when you experience THE POLAR EXPRESS™ in Mossleigh at Aspen Crossing.
