Tin and The Toad
These two country boys have been writing songs and playing music together since their high school years and have family histories going back generations on their Vulcan County farms. Taking early influence mainly from outlaw and alternative Country and Western songwriters like Townes, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Neil Young, and Ian Tyson, it grew to include a new generation of closer to home greats like Corb Lund and John Wort Hannam. They began writing their own Southern Alberta into song, and put together a band of merry mates to help make the sound!

Free Beer Band
The Free Beer Band were formed almost 40 years ago, when Arne Berger, (guitar and horn) Doug Broomfield, (bass and piano)and Larry McIntosh, (drums) along with other area musicians, (Blackie, Nanton, Stavely) began playing for parties, dances andyes, free beer. They were joined in 2002 by George Blake, (pedal steel and guitar) veteran of several other local bands, and have enjoyed a long career of music and travel together. They like to think of themselves as primarily a dance band, with many influences, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Ray Price, Tex-Mex music, and classic country and rock and roll.
"If country music didn’t rock before, it certainly does now with the emergence of the gritty and gregarious Chet Defreese. Funky blues-country riffs coupled with a rock n’ roll attitude, make Defreese a rare find in a nation where bland country musicians are about as difficult to come by as dollar bills in a Nashville stripclub."
"Chet is simple one of the best blues/country guitar players in Alberta and across Canada for that matter."
Boots & The Hoots
"Praise be to hillbilly heaven, the spirit of Hank Williams is alive and well. Alberta's Ol' Boots & the Hoots have resurrected the broken vocal formula that was perfected by Southern storyteller’s years ago and has since inspired so many amnesiac stadium-country singers. The 11-track Pinecone Cowboy features a poised collection of wittily crafted, downtempo western melodies, a cactus in the ass of modern, power-ballad country crooners that forgot the music of their grandfathers. " EXCLAIM! Magazine
Mike Crampton and Amy Cronk are two friends that came together with a shared passion of music. With “robust bantering and strong musical camaraderie, working together to create soaring harmonies and interesting arrangements”.
The Jack Butler Society
The Jack Butler Society is a three-piece band based performing a mix of original compositions and rock covers. Based out of Okotoks and High River, we take our name from our favourite film, Crossroads, starring the legendary Ralph Macchio who battles the devil’s guitarist, Mr. Jack Butler. As three Dads ourselves, we consider our music “Dad Rock” consisting of music you’ll find in your Old Man’s record collection.
Spitzee Post Band
Some of the best things in life are formed from disaster. Such is the case with The Spitzee Post Band, formed in High River Alberta, in the year of the great flood of 2013, when the music was washed away. A bunch of town musicians found that the music was still there. So, after drying off the music, the only place left to play was the Sptizee Post bar in town, and what a fitting name for the band "Spitzee" (native for Higher Ground). You may have already heard them play aboard the Aspen Crossing Railway during one of our excursions.
Extended Family Band
Supporting 2 generations, the Extended Family Band is the fusion of the Baker’s and Beatty’s. 2 Dads, 2 Sons, and decades of music.
Talented musical miscreants, Matt Beatty on guitar and vocals with Casey Shalala on upright bass and heartbreaks. The two crossed paths in a small mountain town while both were on separate tours. Quickly, and with many fine whiskeys, the two realized a mutual appreciation for that bygone era where country, rock, blues, soul and jazz could exist in the same song.
