Stars for STARS - Southern Alberta Has Talent!

August 5, 2015

For those of you that either haven’t heard yet or, you’re still sitting on the fence… you’ve still got an opportunity to be a part of something extraordinary that provides significant value back to you and your community!

Music speaks to us in many ways. Most of us have a love of music that is undefined. When we are happy we love one type of music, if we are reflective, we like another. But what ever we feel, music helps soothe our soul and ultimately helps us to feel good.

Aspen Crossing is just one of a handful of sponsors that is trying to bring people together to feel good, have a great time, learn about up and coming local talent, but most importantly, bring people together to support a much needed service that is provided by STARS

If you think STARS doesn’t need your help - think again! 80% of all funding for STARS comes from community support! That is a very high percentage that relies on your donations to support them and the critical care that they provide.

And what about being able to say, ‘I knew them when’. “The first time I heard them was at a Southern Alberta Music Festival. They were gaining popularity, but look at them now!!”

It’s no secret why ATB Financial chose to single Sykamore out as the winner of the ATB All Albertan Song Writing Contest. Jordan Ostrom, who goes by the name Sykamore professionally, won $10,000 with the title, with her track Heaven in the Pines. Her star is well on the rise! This young lady hails from Carseland, Alberta and is very proud of her hometown.

Drew Gregory, may be from a small town, Standard, AB but he’s also made himself known in the big city of Nashville. Drew still lives in his hometown, where he is an active member of the Ag Society, local hockey team and baseball. This country boy is still grounded in his roots and we are so proud that he is participating in this years’ Music Festival. Look for his latest release, Hometown Feeling.

Lyndsay Butler hails from the High River area of Southern Alberta. Her success at the 2013 Nashville North Star competition has helped her rising star, along with many other competitions that had her as a winning recipient. Lyndsay is focused on her creative writing and her lyrics will have you appreciating her unique style. A little rock, outlaw and traditional, make Lyndsay a performer to remember! Her latest single, Gravel Road has now been released across Canada.

Domino is a band that is really turning up the heat with their latest album release, Ghost. Their new country style with a splash of traditional, keeps audiences tuned in. Catch their latest single, One More Kiss. “From an intimate acoustic setting to a large electric show Domino will deliver!”

Chris Cummings may not be from Southern Alberta, but he is still our Canadian pride! With over 6 studio albums to his credit, multiple hits in the top ten radio, a movie soundtrack, this entertainer shows no signs of slowing down. He is at the forefront of everyone’s radar, which started with Warner Bros. Records in Nashville, when he was still in high school. We are excited to have Chris jump on board to help out with this benefit for STARS. He is passionate about helping and giving back and does a lot of work not only in local communities, but also for support of families in Africa.

With over 20 different entertainers performing over 2 days, you can’t help but find that there is some music to fit everyone’s soul!
