DINING CAR HISTORY
The Aspen Crossing dining car was originally a 1887 Pullman Business Car and was built in Chicago. It opened as Aspen Crossing’s Dining Car June 1, 2007.

Aspen Crossing bought the car from the Side Track Cafe in Edmonton AB, a pub famous for it’s live music. Many Albertan artists enjoyed playing at the Side Track Cafe.
The dining car was trucked down to Aspen Crossing from Edmonton and arrived on Good Friday 2006. The car and its wheels were moved on two different trucks with a combined weight of 153,000 lbs or 76 Tons. The truck and trailer that moved the car had over 78 wheels.
During his election in 1962, John Diefenbaker used this dining car as his business car for his campaign.
