Aspen Crossing Railway Presents - The History Wrangler on the Educational Express
Aspen Crossing Railway has been offering Educational tours for the past four years.
In 2019 we happily partnered with Rob Lennard, best known as The History Wrangler, of the Bow Valley Ranche to enhance our educational train excursion, steeped in rail entertaining style.
Three Different Educational Programs Available
1. Customized Programs for Schools Teachers get to customize the program that they want delivered to their students. How it works is, after a school books the Aspen Crossing Railway History Wrangler Education Express, the teachers have 10 days to choose which 3 topics from the 12 topics below that they want their students to learn about.
a) The Distinguished Ranchers from the Historic Bow Valley Ranche, including Senator Patrick Burns, 'The Cattle King' who was voted 'Alberta's Greatest Citizen"
b) Famous NWMP Mounties, including Jerry Potts and the most famous Mountie of all, Sam Steele.
c) Spiritual Protectors, The Vision Quest, and Aboriginal Sign Language
d) The Arrival of the C.P. Rail in Calgary, August 11th, 1883.
e) Canada's First Cowboys, history of the Chuckwagon Races & Cattle Branding
f) Famous Metis Characters
g) Alberta Train Robbers
h) Historic French Roots in Calgary
i) The Birth of Alberta, September 1st, 1905
j) The First Calgary Stampede, 1912
k) 'We Got Oil'- Oil discoveries in Alberta
l) 'Alberta Ranchers off to War'
2. Girl Guides of Canada The presentation is suitable for young Sparks to teenage Pathfinders and has been customized for Girl Guides of Alberta. As a bonus, the Girl Guides receive a Heritage Badge for taking the program!
3. Scouts Canada - A program has been developed for young Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts.
4. Home School Programs Rob Lennard, known as Alberta's History Wrangler delivers his educational, fun, musical and highly interactive 'Our Past is A Blast Program'
About the History Wrangler - Historical Authority
The History Wrangler wears many hats including that of a national judge for the Governor General of Canada History Awards, Program Coordinator for the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, Historian & Director of Education & Outreach at the Historic Bow Valley Ranche. Rob Lennard is also the official Ambassador of The Cowboy Trail and is an Award-Winning Author of two very well received Alberta history-themed historical fiction books. As a result of The History Wrangler’s efforts, he has received the Alberta Centennial Medal, Governor General of Canada Sovereign Medal and Heritage Awareness Award.
The History Wrangler - Performer
The History Wrangler has performed in 5 Grandstand Shows at the Calgary Stampede, the Opening Ceremonies of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and across Canada and around the world including; Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Hawaii, England, Mexico, Hawaii, and Africa. He has also performed for three Alberta premiers, the Prime Minister of Finland, the King and Queen of Sweden and British Royalty.

About the Aspen Crossing Railway 'History Wrangler Education Express' - Adventure
The train travels from the station to the Historic Grain Elevators, and while enroute, the History Wrangler introduces himself to the passengers. Upon arrival at the Historic Grain Elevators, the History Wrangler will perform his 45 minutes 'Our Past is A Blast' Program.The parents of the Home School Students get to choose the programs their children will take.
Minimum Group Booking is 100 passengers, not to exceed 150.
Pricing is $27.50 per person plus GST. A $150.00 Cleaning Deposit for the train is required.
